Dylan Kerr Resigns, Malesela Re-Signs...

Dylan Kerr has resigned immediately as Marumo Gallants head coach just under a month since his appointment to the role.

The shock decision by the 57-year-old coach was said to have been the differences in the technical staff to assist the English man in Bloemfontein.

Riccardo Calafiora to join Arsenal.

Kerr had earlier alluded that he would be reuniting with his former assistant Mpho Maleka, however the Gallants decision makers had Sundra Govender as a co-coach in their plans, which is part of the reasons for his resignation.

While still in shock, the Gallants fans were also introduced to their new head coach, Dan Malesela before the smoke could even clear.

Malesela returns to Marumo for a third stint as head coach, with his last job having been at Baroka and led them to the play-offs, where they fell short to the flaw-less Richards Bay for promotion to the Betway Premiership.

Dan ‘Dance’ is a familiar figure in South African football, having played for Orlando Pirates and coached a list of teams that includes Chippa United, TS Galaxy, Royal AM, and Mamelodi Sundowns youth where he coached the late Motjeka Madisha.

Gallants open the Betway Premiership journey against Kaizer Chiefs, a month and two weeks from now, which should be enough time for Malesela to put together his team and make them competitive enough to stay in the premiership.

Marumo are back in the top-flight through buying Kerr’s former team Moroka Swallows’ PSL status, and have elected to play their matches in Bloemfontein but are yet to explain the logistics.
