Pirates beat Sevilla in Spain...

Orlando Pirates secured a 2-0 victory against La Liga side Sevilla in their second pre-season match on Monday night.

Coach Jose Riveiro made several changes from the lineup that drew against Plymouth Argyle, introducing Thabiso Sesane, Miguel Timm, Thalente Mbatha, and Karim Kimvuidi.

The Buccaneers had the first real chance ten minutes in when Monnapule Saleng broke through on goal, only to hit the upright from close range.

However, it was the Soweto giants who opened the scoring after 21 minutes.

Timm connected with Relebohile Mofokeng's corner, converting at the near post.

Sevilla, after a subdued start, began to dominate possession as the first half progressed.

They nearly equalized in the 34th minute, but Chidera Ejuke's powerful strike rattled the woodwork.

In a strategic move, Riveiro swapped his entire starting lineup for the second half, allowing fans their first glimpse of new signing Gilberto.

Sevilla also made several substitutions, bringing in regulars like Adria Pedrosa, Lucas Ocampos, Djibril Sow, and Tanguy Nianzou.

These changes injected new life into the game, but the Buccaneers' defense remained resolute, effectively neutralizing Sevilla's offensive threats.

While Sevilla struggled to create clear chances, Pirates capitalized once more.

With eight minutes remaining, Kabelo Dlamini found time and space outside the box to curl a shot into the top corner, sealing the win for Orlando Pirates.
