Brandon Truter Set to Replace Axed Vusumuzi Vilakazi at Richards Bay...

Coach Brandon Truter has been earmarked to replace Vusimuzi Vilakazi at Richards Bay, who parted ways with the KZN club yesterday, despite helping them retain their PSL status through the play-offs, which they concluded without a loss to remain in the top-flight.

While it may come as a shock to many, it may come as no surprise to many others, considering the comments made publicly by the CEO of Phakwe Gas Group.

Phakwe Gas Group entered a R100 million sponsorship deal with Richards Bay, allowing the team to make changes and also bolstering their technical team.

Phakwe CEO, Thabiso Tenyane did say that one of the areas they will be looking to strengthen was the head coach position, raising eyebrows about the future of Vilakazi.

Despite Vilakazi having his contract extended by a year, after the comments by sponsorship group CEO, and Vilakazi himself speaking out confidently and reassuring fans that he will stay at the club, the relationship has been terminated.

Truter, an experienced coach in South African football, is expected to fill the void left by Vilakazi, reports SABC Sport.

Truter, who would be returning for his second stint at Richards Bay, has previously been in charge of Moroka Swallows, AmaZulu, and Sekhukhune United, the latter his last in the PSL, before his current role as technical director at Upington City.
