Mamelodi Sundowns will play their first competitive macth since the departure of head coach Rulani Mokwena, who left the PSL 14-time champions to join Morrocan giants Wydad AC.

Sundowns bowed down in two finals last to current cup kings, Orlando Pirates, in the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup, and would very much hope for a different fate.

Downs were one Cape Town City match short to having an undefeated league season, losing 1-0 in the last match of the campaign, while Polokwane put on quite a show in the latter part of the seasn, losing only four times in their last 16 matches.

At the end of the season Polokwane and Sundowns had a 34 point gap.

Phuti Mohafe's Polokwane took a point, away from the South African kings, through a 0-0 draw, having lost their home match in exactly 4 months earlier, against them 2-0.

The 3 previous matches between the two teams have all had goals bar one, a goaless draw, with two of them ending with at least 2 goals.

Kick-off is at 15:00 at the Loftus-Versveld Stadium, on Sunday 11 August.
