Mamelodi Sundowns through to face Stellenbosch FC in MTN semi-final...

Mamelodi Sundowns were held to a goalless draw by Polokwane City in the 90 minutes as they were both looking to progress as the last team to the MTN8 semi-finals.

Polokwane came to this fixture as a result of their stellar return to the premiership which saw them end the season at position 8 on the log table, grabbing 14 clean sheets in 30 matches, second to only Sundowns (19).

Sundowns finished the match a man down as they were reduced to 10 due to a straight red card received by Dennis Onyango for handling the ball outside the penalty area.

The dismissal of Onyango forced Musa Lebusa to be the goalkeeper for the last 11 minutes of the 90 since Downs had done their three interval changes.

An own goal turned in by Thabang Matuludi was the decider of this match, that saw Manqoba Mqithi’s men march on to join Orlando Pirates, Stellenbosch FC, and Cape Town City in the semi-finals.

The draw of the semi-finals was held live after the match and is as follows: Mamelodi Sundowns V Stellenbosch FC, Cape Town City V Orlando Pirates.

Venues and dates will be announced by the PSL in due course.
