Orlando Pirates Take a Strong Step To Winning 3rd MTN8 in a Row...

Orlando Pirates were welcomed by roughly 40, 000 fans at the Orlando Stadium as they took on SuperSport United on Saturday evening.

A buzzing stadium was also electrified by the likes of Patrick Maswanganyi and Monnapule Saleng, the latter eventually putting a beautiful ball into finesse finishing by the captain Olisa Ndah.

Former Pirates player, Vincent Pule pounced on a ball perfectly placed in his path by Bradley Grobler to head the ball past Sipho Chaine, putting SuperSport level.

Abongile Tom blew the whistle for full-time with the score at 1-1, meaning 30 more extra minutes to play for the match to be decided.

A goal in each half of the extra-time saw Saleng score the second for the Bucs and also involved in the third, scored by Evidence Magkopa, reacting to a ball defended to his path by Ricardo Goss.

3-1 was how it ended, to the home team as they took a step further to defending the MTN8 title again, to win it a record 3 times in a row.

SuperSport will take R1, 000 000 and return to wait for the league to begin with the rest of the teams that did not finish in the top 8.

As Gavin Hunt and his team take a bow, they await a visit to Mamelodi Sundowns in their opening match of the season on the 14th of September, while Pirates continue with their record breaking quest as they wait in the semi-finals.
