Sekhukhune United hosted Cape Town City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday in third MTN8 fixtures that saw the Citizens go through to the semifinals.
The first was highlighted by a penalty miss by Darwin Gonzales before the stroke of halftime, striking Bandra Sangare’s crossbar, keeping the score at no goals in the first half.
The second half was quite similar to the first, with the spotlight again at Gonzales to take on the second spot kick awarded to City after a handball in the penalty area by Siphesihle Mkhize, which he put at the back of the net.
The 90+ minute penalty was enough for City to be the third team in the semifinal, following wins for Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch FC against SuperSport United and TS Galaxy, last weekend, respectively.
